Un mois historique
En 1974, l’Alliance Française de Dublin, héritière du Cercle français fondé en 1907, s’est installée au 1 Kildare Street, autrefois siège du célèbre Kildare Street Club. Depuis lors, nous veillons avec soin à valoriser et à transmettre cet héritage franco-irlandais aux générations futures.
Pour célébrer le 50e anniversaire de son inauguration par le Premier ministre français de l’époque, Jacques Chirac, nous organisons une journée événementielle le 12 octobre prochain. Cet événement rendra hommage non seulement à ce bâtiment emblématique classé, mais aussi à la communauté francophile qui a façonné l’histoire et la vie de l’Alliance Française depuis sa création.
À cette occasion, nous aurons le plaisir de réunir tous nos partenaires, membres et amis, et comptons sur votre présence pour marquer cet anniversaire important.
En tant que membre d’un réseau mondial de plus de 800 Alliances, entreprise irlandaise et association caritative reconnue en Irlande, l’Alliance Française de Dublin entretient des liens solides avec la France, l’Irlande, l’Europe et l’ensemble du monde francophone.
Par ailleurs, la France s'apprête à accueillir, dans quelques jours, le 19e Sommet de la Francophonie au Château de Villers-Cotterêts, lieu où François Ier a signé l’ordonnance de 1539 faisant du français la langue officielle. Le thème de 2024, «créer, innover, entreprendre en français», est une véritable source d’inspiration pour cette nouvelle année académique.
A historic month
In 1974, the Alliance Française Dublin, heir to the Cercle Français founded in 1907, moved to 1 Kildare Street, formerly the home of the renowned Kildare Street Club. Since then, we have carefully worked to preserve and pass on this Franco-Irish heritage to future generations.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its inauguration by the French Prime Minister at the time, Jacques Chirac, we are organizing a special event on October 12. This celebration will pay tribute not only to this iconic listed building but also to the Francophile community that has shaped the history and life of the Alliance Française since its founding.
On this occasion, we will have the pleasure of gathering all our partners, members, and friends, and we look forward to your presence to mark this important milestone.
As a member of a global network of more than 800 Alliances, an Irish company, and an Irish Registered Charity, the Alliance Française Dublin has strong ties with France, Ireland, Europe, and the entire Francophone world.
Additionally, in just a few days, France will host the 19th Francophonie Summit at the Château de Villers-Cotterêts, the site where François I signed the 1539 ordinance making French the official language. The theme for 2024, "créer, innover, entreprendre en français" is a true source of inspiration for this new academic year.
