Before the storm of the Francophonie Festival in March, it’s time to warm up your knowledge of French with our new Spring term, where we’re offering classes for all ages, abilities and tastes. Not interested in booking into a general course? Why not join our French club for a very special breakfast, lunchbreak, or after-work apéritif? Are you a bookworm or a yogi? Perhaps our specialised programmes of literary conversation or yoga class will tempt you!
And make sure your children keep up their French over the mid-term with our school holiday programmes for kids and teens in Junior and Leaving Certificates. For teachers, we are also offering a change of scenery with our Field Trips, which will get the students out of the class for a day on our premises!

The Limiñanas
Live at The Grand Social
Meet Marc Roger
Reader-Writer-Traveller

Friday 8 February – 8pm
€14

Don’t miss the Irish debut of French garage / psych rock legends The Limiñanas!
One of France’s most loved treasures, The Limiñanas are Marie (drums/vocals) and Lionel (guitar, bass, keyboards and vocals). Hailing from Perpignan, the duo straddles the boundary between garage, psych, shoegaze, and yé-yé. With hazy, reverb-laden hooks, combined at times with noisy distortion, and fronted by effortlessly cool vocals, reminiscent of Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot, the band is at once timeless and quintessentially French.

Presented by Paisley Promotions and The Grand Social with the support of the French Embassy. Keep your eyes peeled as we'll have free tickets for you to win on twitter!

The Grand Social, 35 Liffey St Lw, Dublin 1

French films @ Dublin International Film Festival

Booklet available from 16 February
Free at the French Library

Digital technology is now an integral part of our society; today’s children grow up surrounded by screens. It’s sometimes difficult to know what guidance to follow among the myriad of information available on the topic. There are a lot of articles advocating the benefits of digital educational games, while other more alarmist warn of the psychological and physical risks that come with children’s excessive exposure to screens.
How, then, can we protect and support them in our increasingly digital world?
After a year working on digital parenting, with trainings and a weekly activity for families, the French Library team is proud to present its Guide de la parentalité numérique: Screens in the Home, a practical guide to digital parenting. The booklet aims to offer guidance, a possible line of approach to use digital tools with children and teenagers, as well as a basis to exchange with users.
