In
the last 8 weeks, our lives have been tremendously impacted by COVID-19,
to an extent that took us all by surprise and required painful
adjustments from everyone.
The team at 1 Kildare Street spared no time and no effort to continue
delivering its regular high
standard programme after the building was closed on March
13th, and I would like to commend their outstanding attitude and
commitment. The Spring Term classes went on uninterrupted except for a handful as the
teachers switched to distance technologies, a huge challenge given the
situation and the very awkward conditions. The French Library made the most of its digital library Culturethèque,
accessible without charge until the end of May, and invited to join
some regular activities like Reading
Aloud and Tricot-Thé
on Zoom.
On
the cultural scene, our selection of curated activities to enjoy from
home continues to grow and we are now able to resume our cultural
events! Look out for our Facebook
Live Broadcast Series and our first Online Cinéclub on
Zoom at the end of the month!
The response of our public has been owerwhelming, with large
re-enrolment from our regular students for the Online Tuition
programme which started on April 20th, a growing attendance to all
online offerings, a jump in subscriptions to our emailing list and
social networks, and countless messages of support. This response is
our reward, and on behalf of the whole team, I would like to say MERCI.
We feel supported and encouraged, and we have lots of plans and ideas
in all departments to keep in touch with you until we can see you again
in person on our premises.
Until then, stay home, stay safe!

de l’Alliance Française de Dublin / Coordinateur des Alliances Françaises

It's common knowledge that the more you listen to native speakers talk, the more your brain processes the correct pronunciation and mimic it as you speak yourself – oral comprehension is therefore a crucial point when learning French. In this workshop, we will give you some ideas to use in your classroom to improve your students’ listening comprehension, so be sure to come along!
This free workshop will be led by Laurence Deltour, teacher at Alliance Française Dublin.

Speaking French without a foreign accent can sometimes seem a bit of a stretch, but with a strategic approach you can actually help your students get closer and make progress in their pronunciation.
This workshop will be here to give you tips on how to teach phonetics in a classroom when you have limited time and will be of great help if you want your students to master French phonetics in the near future.
This free workshop will be led by Cécile Gorge, teacher at Alliance Française Dublin
